Canada’s first annual ‘Small Business Saturday’ this weekend, aims to get you to shop local and independent.

The new campaign from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business is loosely based on its American counterpart which happens the first Saturday after Thanksgiving.

CFIB President Dan Kelly says “All across Canada, small business owners tell me they’re looking for new ways to reach out to customers – particularly online – to promote the importance of shopping at local small firms, instead of a big box, giant online or cross-border business. After all, if we all shop small, we can make a big difference”.

The stores in and around Parry Sound including the Downtown Business Association offer some of the finest shopping in the province.
