Friday is a busy one this weekend in Parry Sound.

Muskoka Parry Sound Sexual Assault Services will be holding its 9-1-1 Chili Cook-Off fundraiser at Parry Sound High School at 111 Isabella Street starting at 4:30 pm Friday afternoon.

Men and women from Parry Sound area EMS will be showing off their cooking skills, all to raise funds for the MPSSAS. The event runs until 7:30 pm.

For more information and admission fees,  visit the MPDSSAS website.

The Parry Sound Downtown Business Association will also be busy this Friday with ‘Light Up The Park’.

The afternoon begins at 4:00 pm with the Home Depot Kid’s Workshop at the Parry Sound Public Library at 29 Mary Street followed by a Pizza Party, also at the library.

Events move over to Market Square Park for the lighting featuring carolling by the Bayside Family Church and a visit from Santa.

The event closes back at the library with stories with Santa.

Be sure to bring non-perishable food items and toys as Parry Sound EMS will be collecting those items for families in need.

As well, the Salvation Army will kick-off its Christmas Kettle Campaign at the event.
