New stats are in for the OPP Festive R.I.D.E. campaign in the Parry Sound district.
To date, West Parry Sound OPP has conducted 51 hours of Festive ‘Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere’ spot checks since the program began on November 23rd.
So far, police have issued two 3-day suspensions from roadside tests.
OPP officers have also issued 12 Highway Traffic Act (HTA) charges including,
- three seatbelt charges
- four driving while suspended charges
- two driving while disqualified charges
- one Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act charge
- five Schedule I Substance charges
The OPP considers the Festive R.I.D.E. campaign to be one of their most important safety initiatives.
Police continue to remind drivers that if you plan on consuming alcoholic beverages, plan to not drive.
Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, or stay overnight.
Festive R.I.D.E. ends January 2nd, 2019.
