UPDATE December 14th 5:00 am: Authorities are now reporting the threats have extended into the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. Targets include universities, courthouses, and newspapers. The search continues for those responsible.
The OPP’s Criminal Investigative Branch is currently looking into multiple bomb threats that have been made right across the province.
Police are reporting the threats are similar to ones that have been made across North America.
Targeted businesses and institutions are sent e-mails demanding payment in bitcoins.
Ontario Provincial Police is encouraging the public to report any suspicious activity that could be a threat to public safety.
OPP Detective Staff Sergeant Bryan Gast of the CIB is coordinating the OPP’s investigation into these bomb threats.
