New Festive R.I.D.E. statistics from the West Parry Sound OPP indicate motorists are continuing to drink and drive.

To date, police have conducted a total of 71 hours of spot checks during this year’s Festive ‘Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere’ campaign with two drivers being handed 3-day suspensions from roadside tests.

Police have also issued 21 Highway Traffic Act related charges including:

  • three Seatbelt charges,
  • four driving while suspended charges,
  • two driving while disqualified charges,
  • one Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act charge, and
  • five Schedule I Substance charges.

The Festive R.I.D.E. campaign ends January 2nd, 2019

Police remind you that if you plan on drinking, plan to not drive.

Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi, or stay overnight.
