UPDATE Tuesday, January 8th, 5:00 am: A Special Weather Statement Issued by Environment Canada has ENDED.
Environment Canada is forecasting significant snowfall for Monday afternoon and into the night for the Parry Sound area.
In its Special Weather Statement, the agency says the Town of Parry Sound, Carling, Rosseau, and Killbear Park will be hardest hit by the conditions.
Snow associated with an approaching low-pressure system is expected to move into the area Monday afternoon and persist into the overnight hours.
Some areas may see snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm.
Snow may be accompanied by ice pellets before changing to rain overnight.
There is also a risk of freezing rain during the changeover.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution as road conditions may be poor at times.
