UPDATE: Environment Canada has lifted a Blowing Snow Advisory for the Parry Sound area.

A Blowing Snow Advisory has been issued for the Parry Sound area including the Town of Parry Sound, Carling, and Rosseau

Environment Canada reports poor visibility in snow and blowing snow is expected or occurring in some locations.

Strong winds gusting up to 70 km/h and flurries will lead to visibilities reduced to near zero in blowing snow today.

The agency says the wind will begin to ease this afternoon into tonight leading to improved conditions.

Motorists should be prepared to change travel plans accordingly.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.

If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.

Blowing snow advisories are issued when winds are expected to create blowing snow giving poor visibility to 800 metres or less for at least 3 hours.

If you wish to report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
