UPDATE 2 Tuesday, February 12th: Winter Storm Warning continues for the Parry Sound area. The region could see snow mixed with ice pellets in the afternoon. There is a risk of frostbite in the morning as the wind chill is expected to dip to minus 25.
UPDATE: Environment Canada has upgraded a Winter storm watch to a Winter Storm WARNING.
The agency is advising people in or near this area should be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and take necessary safety precautions.

Environment Canada is forecasting heavy snowfall as it issues a ‘Winter storm watch’ for the Parry Sound region.
Hazardous winter conditions are expected.
Canada’s weather agency is expecting snowfall amounts of 30 to 40 cm and blowing snow today before the snow tapers off Wednesday afternoon.
Snow at times heavy will begin this afternoon and continue into Wednesday. Easterly winds gusting up to 60 km/h may cause near zero visibility in blowing snow.
Currents forecasts call for snow beginning during the day Tuesday.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult in some areas.
Environment Canada is recommending avoiding all unnecessary travel if possible.
Officials say consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for taillights ahead and be prepared to stop.
