Near North District School Board Trustees will now have to abide by a new Code of Conduct.
The Near North District School Board adopted the measure at its regular meeting Tuesday night.
The Code of Conduct establishes standards of conduct for individual Trustees with respect to the conduct of their official duties, in addition to a mechanism for addressing complaints regarding violations of the Code of Conduct.
All School Boards will be required to have a Trustee Code of Conduct in place by May 15, 2019.
“The Board has been very clear about their commitment to transparent, accountable and ethical governance”, says NNDSB Chair Jay Aspin.
“We as Trustees recognize that maintaining a high quality of public administration and governance can be achieved in part by encouraging high standards of conduct on the part of elected Trustees. The public is entitled to expect the highest standards of conduct from members that are elected to serve their local government and we are committed to meeting and exceeding that standard.”.
Individual Trustees will be signing the Code of Conduct which will be available on the NNDSB website.
