UPDATE Wednesday, March 13, 2019, from the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve: “Due to the anticipated forecast of 15-20mm of rain Thursday evening, our snowshoe hike at Georgian Nordic Outdoor Activity Centre will be cancelled for safety and to preserve the trail at the ski club”.
Two upcoming Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve events are probably your last chances to capture the winter beauty of the Parry Sound region.
The Biosphere walks continue this Saturday, March 9th with the Waterfront Trail – The Bay in Our Backyard.
It begins at 10:00 am at the Salt Docks where you begin the hike along the Waterfront Trail to the CP Trestle bridge and discover what is happening above and below the water.
On Thursday, March 14th, you begin the Georgian Nordic -Moonlight Showshoe trek at 4 Nine Mile Lake Road at 8:00 pm to explore the seasonal changes that plants and animals face in spring while snowshoeing under the night sky.
The GBBR asks that you bring or rent your own snowshoes and that a $10 donation would be appreciated.
For information, email the GBBR.
