It will be a display of finesse, hi-tech engineering, and brute force as the stage is set for ‘Day of Search and Rescue: Amphibious Vehicles Demonstration and Trials’ on Friday.

The event will include six participants with booths set up in the lobby of the Stockey Centre, as well as demonstrations by SHERP, maker of the world’s most powerful ATVs and hovercrafts by Air Rider from Seguin and Markham’s ATASD all happening on Georgian Bay in Parry Sound.

Also on hand will Roshel Defence Solutions of Mississauga with 1 armoured car, human-machine interface developer Taiga Robotics of Toronto bringing a prototype and marketing materials, and drone manufacturer Skyeton from Kiev, Ukraine.

Weather permitting, the demonstrations will include ”live” rescue exercises on the ice and open water in collaboration with the Town of Parry Sound Fire Department.

Parry Sound Economic Development Officer Vladimir Shehovtsov says, “The event will provide an opportunity to promote Parry Sound as a future cluster for search and rescue equipment manufacturers and help attract SMEs from the GTA and across the province, as well as internationally”.

He adds, “It will also allow participants to network with officials from local municipalities, provincial and federal governments and explore opportunities in the area”.

It all takes place on Friday at the Stockey Centre in Parry Sound between 12:00 pm and 4:00pm.
