UPDATE Thursday, March 21st: The next Blood Donation Event in Parry Sound is on Friday, March 29th. Show your support of #CanadasLifeline by booking your appointment ahead at the Canadian Blood Services website

Original story February 26th, 2019: Now that the first long weekend of 2019 is just a memory, Canadian Blood Services wants everyone to remember the demand for blood never stops.

Cancer patients, accident victims, and people with blood disorders rely on blood transfusions every day, even over a long weekend.

Parry Sound will have another opportunity in March to support Canada’s Lifeline to make up for the shortage of donations CBS Territory Manager Elaine St.Pierre says was experienced during the Family Day weekend clinic.

“The blood drive on Friday unfortunately did not hit target, so we are hoping to see a full house in March!”.

To donate, you must be at least 17 years of age, in generally good health, and feeling well on the day of your donation.

To check if you are eligible, St. Pierre suggests taking the Eligibility Quiz on the Canadian Blood Services website where you can then book your own appointment.

St Pierre says the blood you donate will be used within days to help someone.

She also asks blood donors to consider bringing a friend to encourage new donors to join #CanadasLifeline.

The upcoming Community Donation Event in Parry Sound will take place on Friday, March 29th between 2:00 and 7:00 pm at St. Peter’s Church-Knights of Columbus Hall at 52 Church Street.

Canadian Blood Services recommends you book your appointment ahead online.
