UPDATE: Freezing rain alert ENDED.
Environment Canada is saying the Parry Sound area could be hit with patchy freezing rain Friday evening.
As a result, the agency has issued a Special weather statement for the region.
Precipitation moving into the regions late this morning may begin as freezing rain or a mix of freezing rain and snow.
The freezing rain could last for a few hours before temperatures rise above the freezing mark.
Ice build-up is possible on elevated surfaces.
Untreated surfaces such as roads, especially bridges and overpasses, and walkways may also become icy.
