North East Region OPP is rolling out the welcome mat as a new Detachment Commander takes over the West Parry Sound detachment.

In a statement issued Tuesday, NER OPP gives a comprehensive background review on Staff Sergeant Shaun Crabbe who takes over as Detachment Commander from Staff Sergeant Mike Gordon who retired late in 2018.

Staff Sergeant Crabbe began his career with the OPP in the Owen Sound area.

He was initially posted to Grey County Detachment, in West Region, after graduating from the Ontario Police College and Provincial Police Academy.

During this posting, he performed specialized frontline duties, including Coach Officer, Scenes of Crime Officer and Breath Technician.

S/Sgt Crabbe also served as Detective Constable to the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit.

His role involved large scale, multi-jurisdictional drug and organized crime investigations throughout southwestern Ontario.

S/Sgt Crabbe was then posted to the Bruce Peninsula Detachment, which included the summer detachments of Sauble Beach and Tobermory, where he performed the duties of a front line Constable, an Administration Sergeant and Platoon Sergeant – Team Leader.

In 2012 S/Sgt Crabbe was transferred to North West Region where he has served as Detachment Commander at OPP Detachments in Pickle Lake, Red Lake, and Kenora, which included the role of policing services to multiple Indigenous communities.

RadioWorkz Parry Sound would like to take this opportunity to welcome Staff Sergeant Crabbe to Parry Sound.
