UPDATE 2 Saturday, April 27th: Rainfall warning ENDED for the Parry Sound area

UPDATE Friday, April 26th: An Environment Canada Rainfall Warning remains in effect for the Parry Sound region. Some areas could get more than 50mm of rain.

UPDATE: A rainfall WARNING is now in effect for the Parry Sound region. 

Environment Canada says localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible and advises to 
avoid driving through water on roads.

Even shallow, fast-moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle or a person away.

Don’t approach washouts near rivers, creeks, and culverts.

Keep children and pets away from creeks and river banks.

Environment Canada says the Parry Sound region will have another Friday where significant rainfall is in the forecast.

The area is under a Special weather statement from the agency alerting of rain, heavy at times, moving into Central and Eastern Ontario overnight Thursday and continue into Friday evening.

Total rainfall amounts of between 25and 40 millimetres are expected by late Friday night.

Some parts of the Parry Sound region could wind up with more than 50 mm of rain.

A Flood Warning from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry also remains in effect for the district until Wednesday, May 1st
