The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is extending its Flood Warning for the French and Lower Pickerel River Watersheds which includes the Municipality of St. Charles, Municipality of French River and the Municipality of Killarney, McConkey Township, Blair Township, Mowat Township, and Henvey Inlet First Nation until Friday, May 24, 2019.
The MNRF is blaming the extension on weekend weather forecasts calling for 15 to 20mm of rain Saturday evening with a total of 25mm by Monday.
Officials say the water levels and flows in the French River are still very high and with the forecasted rain and high inflows, there is still the potential for more increases in the coming days.
The MNRF says with the increased water levels and flows that are being seen, homes and other infrastructure in low lying areas are likely to be impacted and residents should prepare accordingly.
The MNRF also recommends residents keep a close watch on local forecasts and conditions.
A FLOOD WARNING means flooding is imminent or occurring within specific watercourses and municipalities.
