The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has extended its Flood Outlook for a majority of the Parry Sound District until Friday, May 24th.

That extends the current watershed statement that expires today.

A Flood Warning continues for the French River and Lower Pickerel River Watersheds, also until Friday, May 24th.

The MNRF says higher than normal water levels and flow conditions exist throughout most of the Parry Sound district and residents are reminded to keep a close watch on weather conditions, regularly check for updated messages and exercise caution near fast-moving rivers and streams.

The Ministry reports banks and shorelines adjacent to water bodies are extremely unstable and residents and visitors are advised to exercise caution while around water bodies and maintain close supervision of children and pets.

Boaters as well are advised to drive with caution, be watchful for floating and submerged debris and minimize their wake.

A Flood Outlook gives early notice of the potential for flooding based on weather forecasts calling for heavy rain, snow melt, high winds or other conditions.
